LEWISBURG, PA. - Harold E. VanSickle, 88, of 112 Verna Road and a resident of Lewisburg for more than 12 years, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Riverwoods where he had been a resident for 2 months. Prior to February 9, 2001, he was residing at Kramm Health Center for 8 months.
He was born Sep. 11, 1912, in Jamison City, Columbia County, and raised in Bloomsburg, Pa., a son of the late Harry W. and Mabel J. (Drum) VanSickle. He was married to Lois M. Letterman on March 16, 1935, at Fredricksburg, Md., and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary at Riverwoods.
Harold was a 1931 graduate, and class president, of Bloomsburg High School. He also graduated as an accountant from Wyoming Seminary.
Mr. VanSickle was a dairy farmer for 17 years in Montour County and served a term as Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts for Montour County. Later, he was Business Manager for Line Mountain Area School District and then Lewisburg Area School District retiring in 1972.
An active individual, he was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbia Hill, serving as Treasurer, Lectern, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir singer. He was the oldest member of the congregation.
Mr. VanSickle enjoyed fishing, camping with his family, wood working, and gardening. He was also active in the Democratic Party of Montour County serving as its Chairman for several years.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy J. Wintersteen of Bloomsburg and Marjorie A. Conner of Washingtonville; three sons, Harold E. VanSickle, Jr. of Sunbury, Harry A. VanSickle of Lewisburg, and Jeffrey P. VanSickle of Smethport; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline D. Keller; and one son, William B. VanSickle, who died in infancy.

Memorial services will be held at 2pm Sunday, April 8th at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Columbia Hill Road.
